The Sunday celebration of the Lord’s Day and his Eucharist is at the heart of the Church’s life. As Roman Catholic Christians we attend Sunday Mass to participate fully in the heavenly realities of the Liturgy by breaking open the Word, offering the prayers of the community, and receiving the Eucharist.
The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life. The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works … are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself.
